UPPER GRAND LEARNING FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Congratulations to our 2009 Upper Grand Learning Foundation Scholarships recipients Rachel Keunen, Cody James Miller, Norwell DSS; Sarah Scott, Wellington Heights SS; Harrison Myers, Centennial, The Barbara Douglas Award. We wish you the best as you pursue your next level of education.

2008 ecipients: Alyssa Timm (Norwell), Marrissa Khan (Wellington Heights), Jaclyn Lewis (Wellington Heights), and Cody Beals (Centre Wellington). 2007 recipients: Wyatt Carss, Mahmoud Hamzi, Rebecca Kurtz, and Tim Warboys. 2006 recipients: Afiza Elahi, Shannon Fahy, Andrew Kaikai and John Kaikai.

PLEASE NOTE: The scholarship application form states that unless our scholarship recipients ask to remain anonymous, their signed application forms include the right of Upper Grand Learning Foundation to publish their names and home school on this web site and other communication materials that may be created to promote the foundation.

The Upper Grand Learning Foundation Scholarships have been established with the proceeds of a bequest from an estate. In accordance with the terms of the will, the benefactor will remain anonymous.

The bequest provides that the funds be invested and the interest only be paid out annually in four (4) equal shares to four (4) academically high achieving and financially needy students, selected from the Protestant high schools in the County of Wellington.

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:

1. Have successfully completed the graduating year at one of the public high schools in Wellington County, and have received, or be entitled to receive, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma

2. Be registered, in the same calender year that this award is granted, as a full-time student at any post-secondary institution in a course leading to a degree, graduation diploma or other certificate of successful completion

3. Have demonstrated a combination of high academic achievement and financial need

To be considered candidates must:

  • Complete in full a Foundation application form
  • Be recommended by the school principal or head of guidance
  • Provide a transcript of mark
  • Provide a letter outlining their goals and ambitions
  • Return application and documents by August 31
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered

Final selection will be made by the Scholarship Committee of the Upper Grand Learning Foundation. The amount of each scholarship is approximately $500. A representative of the Foundation or its designate will present the awards at the recipients’ Commencement ceremonies
